Welcome to the Price of Tea in China!

杭州富阳, 2021

There’s an extraordinary amount of press in the West about China, yet the human element is often lost amidst competition and fear mongering across nations. As a lifelong writer and editor, I’ve always loved people’s stories. Since first coming to China in 2014, I’ve grown more and more fascinated by those who have adopted China as their home, as well as enterprising individuals from here. These individuals seek no acclaim, quietly living out their dreams, and build brick-and-mortar businesses and organizations that improve the world around them. Regardless of the swirl of conflicts between nations, year after year–many for decades–these remarkable humans carry on, making a bright mark on their local spheres.

The world deserves to hear about these people, as well as about what they have created, if just to be better informed about the day-to-day here. Enter the Price of Tea in China, so named to bring to light a wide range of individuals, organizations and realities about daily life in the Middle Kingdom, whether or not they connect to recent events or the current sociopolitical climate. Enjoy this glimpse into our corner of the world, and if you know anyone who deserves a mention, please email profile at price of tea in China dot com (so phrased to avoid the bots) or click here.
